KampungboyCitygal is One Year Old!

Happy First Birthday to KampungboyCitygal

Exactly one year ago, our very first post on Kuala Terengganu steamed keropok lekor was borned......

Till now, the passion of blogging is still growing strong. I know that I might not have the best writing skills, or the most professional shot, but I believe that our passion shines through our posts and pictures.

The past one year was a truly gastronimical journey that cannot be verbally described. We picked up on new eateries around or new terms on food (julianne? al-fresco? al-dente? mumbo jumbo names of cheese? aphrodasiac oyster?) from other bloggers. It made us a little gurus among our friends for dining/cooking guide.

Thanks to you, foodies and readers who keep us going all the time. We promised to do our best in searching high (for gourmet treat) and low (for alley specialties) just to feast your eyes. We ha d updated the side bars, hope that it works as a little dining guide or recipe search for you guys :)

Happy New Year and hope that you guys can enjoy yourselves tremendously tonight.

Duck Feet Roll (鸭脚包) @ Petaling Street

Duck Feet Roll might be a new terms to the younger generations. I can still remember vividly where mum bought it back from the pasar malam during my younger days but I can hardly see it nowadays.

So Duck Feet Roll is a nostalgia to my childhood :)

I'm so delighted when I found out something: there's a Petaling Street hawker nicknamed Sze Ngan Zhai / Bespectatacled Boy / 四眼仔 who never stop selling Duck Feet Roll for 20 years.

The making of Duck Feet Roll is especially tedious. According to the Sze Ngan Zai uncle, first he marinates the cleaned duck intestine, duck liver and duck feet in their (secret recipe) sauce overnight. Place the duck liver and pork in the middle of duck's feet and wrap it around with duck intestines. Hang it to dry at a shady place.

Another specialty of Sze Ngan Zai - Roasted Duck. The ever famous stall right still has its queue of people lining up for the ducks (half a duck is RM18, a whole duck is RM36)

The Duck Feet Roll is delicious! It smells and tastes like Cantonese sausage with less oil ozzing out because they used lean meat nowadays, the feet gives you more cartilage to chew on and the liver is just nice. (RM 1.50 per piece)

Gime me a beer please!

Merry Christmas Everyone~!!

Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way ! It's Christmas and there's merriment everywhere !

My special wishes to my family, friends, my loved one Kampungboy and my dear readers. Let's share the wonderful spirit of Christmas together!

Decoration for the festive season is up everywhere! Major shopping malls in Malaysia are sort of competing for the best christmas decoration. It does feast the eyes of shoppers and yet Mid Valley stand out above the rest.

21st Birthday Bash @ Iguana Bar Part I

It all started with these lovely invitation cards......

It was a themed birthday party. I've never been to a themed party since ages ago, the last one that I went was a kiddo party where we have to be "fairylike".

Guess they are getting tired of the same old parties, and the typical menus of wine or beer and chips. So the December babies treat their guests to a retro-style cocktail party.

DATE: 20 DEC 2006
TIME: 8 p.m
VENUE: Iguana Bar (Above Bar Flam)
DRESS CODE: Strictly Retro!!!!!

It's not a retro party without the ultimate party accessory - disco mirror ball. It was my favourite pictures among all, credits to Brian for this excellent shot!

Rachel get these guest book done for the host and hostees : Suyen, Leeping, Chia Ling, Ally, Chin Kuang.

I just want to tell you guys that every single one of you is very special and deserves the best. I wish you guys a life filled with love and happiness!

The best dressed - Leonard and Teressa! Cool afro head and very Marilyn Monroe wigs. Everyone loves their headgear.

See? They look great in afro!! From top left: Wailin, Sheryee, Daniel and Jolyn.

Citygal with the dressed up guys: Yichang with the suspender, Victor Ong looked newsboy without the newsboy cap , drunkard Daniel, Michael Jackson Kalai, Bday Boi Ally, Adorable Victor Yong.

Peh Mates looking good in their retro dresses!!

I'm totally in love with Brian's hand drawn side burn. To whoever who drew it: Good Job!!

Yong Zhi, Karyee, Fai, Arina, Ally and Tenten. The guys just came back from Hawaii? :p

The crowds is getting crazier with music of the 50s, 60s and 70s.

Restoran Coconut Flower @ Teluk Gong

The birthday boy Victor and Hup Lim get us a treat at Restoran Coconut Flower, Teluk Gong. It needs no furthur introduction as most KL people has been to here before. There are rows of seafood restaurant along Teluk Gong, but most locals swear by Coconut Flower Seafood Restaurant is one of the most original seafood restorant. Let's drool over the pictures here!

Wantan Chicken - The chicken stewed in some mushroom gravy comes along with some deep fried wantans and small lil tong yuen. It's everyone favourite I suppose.

Teochew steamed fish - The fish is fresh but the minus point is the teochew style is a bit bland, lacking of the sour taste.

Deep fried baby octopus - Nice to be popped into the mouth and its so crunchy!

One of their signature dish - oysters fried mee

Coconut Prawns - The assam sauce is very appetizing and great to be eaten with rice!

Deep fried tofu - Nothing fantastic about this.

Marmite crabs
Kam Heong Crabs

Their portions shrunk compared to the last time I came. The price is still reasonable but it's not as cheap as how everyone is raving about it. Try to come here on weekdays, preferably lunch hours because it is always hard to be seated during weekends.

Overall, the food is quite good and service is prompt. I forgot to take pictures of the must try toddy, or fermented coconut flower juice. It is an alcholic drink so do not feed your kids with it. However it is an acquired taste because some of us love it and some hates it.

Happy 21st Birthday to Pussy Slut, my best wishes to you in the success of your 'extreme makeover', getting the girl of your dreams and live happily ever after!

Thanks for all your 'technical' (gadgets and IT stuff) and 'non technical' (cards making, drive us around, run the errands..) helps to the A3 girls too! Hugs **

Happy 21st Birthday to Vanila, may your year be filled with laughter and fun, appearing in the cover of MYC, winning the first title in Dota championship and landing a prospective job after your graduation.

It's great to know you for like 4 years! Your kindness, sense of humours and buat bodoh pose bring happiness to people around you! Hugs **
